Authorities responded to an active shooter at UNLV (University of Nevada Las Vegas), near Beam Hall and the Student Union building. The alert prompted evacuations, and by 12:37 p.m., the suspect was confirmed dead.

Sunrise Hospital treated three victims, with one initially critical but later upgraded to stable condition. The suspect, a 67-year-old career college professor, remains unnamed. UNLV closed for the week, impacting flights at Las Vegas Harry Reid International Airport.

President Biden, responding to this and another Texas shooting, urged Congress to pass gun control measures.

The UNLV vs. Dayton basketball game was canceled. This marks the 80th US school shooting in 2023.
